Ask Waylight

Say what you need. Waylight plans the rest.

“Get me home on well-lit, busier streets”

After dark Waylight puts lit streets first and keeps you where cafés, shops and metro entrances are still open, instead of the empty shortcut.

“Take me home through the shade, as shady as possible”

Shadows from real buildings at the time you leave, tree-lined streets and the shady side of the road. You see exactly how much of the way is in shade.

“To the Louvre with the stroller, no stairs”

Step-free means no stairs, start to finish, with smoother surfaces and no cobblestones or steep climbs when you ask. Made for wheelchairs and strollers alike.

“Cycle to Canal Saint-Martin on protected lanes”

Switch to the bike and Waylight favours separated and protected lanes over sharing the road with traffic, with the ride time right next to the walk.

“Gare de Lyon by metro, least walking”

Train, metro, tram and bus options sit right beside the walk and the ride: the line, every stop and the next departures, sorted by fastest, fewest changes or least walking.

“Walk me home the calm way, away from traffic”

Calmer side streets, residential lanes and green streets instead of the main road. Flip a switch or just say it, and the route changes with you.

Ask Waylight’s real answer to “Get me home on well-lit, busier streets”: heading to Place de la Bastille, route weighted for lighting, with calmer, fastest and better-lit options.
Ask Waylight’s real answer to a shady walk home: the shadiest route it can build, 40% in shade at 15:00.

Waylight’s bike route to Canal Saint-Martin: 8 minutes by bike, next to 27 minutes on foot and 12 by transit.
Waylight’s transit trip to Gare de Lyon: walk 4 minutes, metro line 1 from Hôtel de Ville for 3 stops, walk 6 minutes, 16 minutes in total.
Ask Waylight’s real answer to “Walk me home the calm way, away from traffic”: a route leaned toward quiet streets.

After dark

Heading home late? Take the brighter way.

Switch on Well-lit after dark or Avoid isolated night streets, or just tell Waylight. It keeps you on lit streets, near open places and people.

  1. Lit streets first

Waylight knows which streets are lit and puts them first once the sun goes down.

  2. People and open places

It leans towards streets with cafés, shops, restaurants and metro entrances nearby, where the city is still awake.

  3. Main streets over shortcuts

Skip the empty cut-through. A couple of extra minutes on a livelier street is a trade Waylight makes for you.

  4. Reports from other walkers

When someone flags a street as poorly lit, it counts against that street tonight.

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick where you’re going

Search a place or tap one on the map: a café, a pharmacy, a station, home.

  2. 2

    Say what matters

Flip a switch or tell Ask Waylight in your own words. “Shade, and no stairs” works.

  3. 3

    Go your way

Walk, ride or take the tram, step by step on a live 3D map of the city.

Built on real city data

It knows the street before you get there.

Waylight reads the city the way you move through it, then plans around what you asked for. Here is what that means for you.

Illustration: a shady tree-lined street with a parent pushing a stroller, a wheelchair user on a smooth pavement and the Waylight mouse walking in the shade.

On foot

Brighter streets for the walk home, a shady way when it’s hot, and step-free routes when you’re pushing wheels.

By bike

Protected lanes away from heavy traffic, and a smoother ride that skips the steepest hills.

On transit

The metro, tram or bus that actually fits your day, with the walk to the stop already planned.

About us

People first. Then everything else.

Cities are planned around traffic. We plan around the person making the trip: how they feel, what they carry, who they’re with and what time it is. And we build it the way we’d want our own data handled.

Made for everyone on the street

Wheelchairs and strollers, late shifts and early starts, hot afternoons and bikes. Every feature starts from a real person’s trip.

Lean by design

Waylight loads only the slice of city data your trip needs and plans the route with its own engine, so it stays quick, light and efficient.

AI only when it helps

Everyday requests like “a pharmacy open now” are understood right on your phone. The AI only steps in for longer, trickier requests, so less energy is used and less of what you type leaves your phone.

Your data, your call

Encrypted connections, hashed passwords, analytics only after you say yes, and one tap to delete your account and everything in it. We never sell your data.
